Massone

Trentino, IT

Massone, also called Policromuro, is one of the largest developed crags in the Arco area. Italian rock climbing history was written here with the birth of "Underground", Italy's first 9a route. The base of the first sectors is nestled in the midst of a beautiful olive grove. This climbing crag is ideal for families: a short access, lots of kid-friendly space and a compact rock face, minimizing the risk of falling rocks. Unfortunately, due to the popularity of the spot, the rock is quite polished, making it important to be careful even on some of the easiest routes. Lately, in Massone, sector Pueblo, two very difficult connections have been first free climbed by Stefano Ghisolfi and Alfredo Webber. In 2020, Adam Ondra climbed "Athena" without the artificial holds (9a).
