Tintwistle Knarr

Peak District, GB

The Tintwistle Knarr boulders did get a brief write-up in the BMC’s 1990 Kinder guidebook, although it was not until 2010 that Mike Adams documented the area properly, adding most of the harder problems in the process. Due to the nature of both the approach and the landings under some of the problems the circuit could best be described as ‘esoteric’. There are basically no paths, so moving between the blocks is frustrating, but there are some good problems, which warrant a visit for the dedicated explorer. The information we’ve included here is based on Mike’s topo and we thank him for that. Other variations and link-ups have been climbed; the main problems are described.
