Pescatore

Kalymnos, GR

Pescatore, a fine wall up to 30 meters high with massive stalactites, tufa pipes, and an immaculate limestone face, is just around the corner from sector Irox. The beauty of the coastal landscape is enhanced even further by the views of Leros and the north coast of Kalymnos. The absence of houses and other signs of human presence is an extra bonus. Zoidis, a new sub-sector on a small cave and wall to the right of Pescatore, was bolted recently in memory of the Telendian Yannis Zoidis, a beloved figure in the climbing community who passed away in January 2021. Yannis had wanted to bolt this small crag himself, but wasn’t able to make that wish come true. Routes at Zoidis were bolted instead by Claude Idoux, Aris Theodoropoulos, and Pier Cier in 2022. A cliff complete with stalactites, tufa pipes, and an immaculate wall. New sub-sector Zoidis on the right adds varied short routes. __Busy__ 2/3 __Climbing__ At Pescatore Main, varied climbs on the left pillar; excellent routes from 5c–6c on a smooth wall in the middle; and harder climbs on the right, often starting with tough moves on oversized stalactites (but sometimes ending on sharp, less good rock). At Zoidis, short but versatile climbs: a small cave to the left, a big groove, and a slab/wall to the right with sharp holds. __Conditions__ Lots of shade, but not good for humid days with no wind. When the sun comes, you can continue climbing at nearby Irox (5 mins away) or Glaros (10 mins away). __Shade (Exposure: NW)__ Until 16:00 (middle/right side of Pescatore Main, Zoidis). Between 11:00–16:00 at the pillar on the left. __Kids__ At the right side of Pescatore Main and at Zoidis.
