Gletscherschlucht

Bern, CH

At the entrance to the Gletscherschlucht in Grindelwald your eyes are immediately drawn to the gray slabs. In 2006, Hansueli Klossner, working in conjunction with the Grindelwald Mountaineering School, started a route clean-up/retrofitting program that aimed to put the area on the climbing map again. The climbing is mostly on smoothly polished holds with good protection featuring route specific color coded hangers. The routes are designed and equipped perfectly for families and those new to multi-pitch climbing. It is a great place to develop good rope handling skills and habits. For those seeking a bit more airy exposure, check either the pillar on the right side out, or the adventure program from Grindelwald Sport where a variety of choices exist that include Bridge Jumping, Rappelling, Tyrolean Traverses, and Nepalese Hanging Bridges.
