Moonbears (5c)

Moonbears is a nice and entertaining route of moderate difficulty. The route follows a logical line of cracks and dihedrals and demanded 20 days of bolting and cleaning from its first ascenders. The name is supposed to raise awareness for the cruelties done to moonbears (asiatic bear type). In chinese folk medicine the bear’s gall has healing properties. Even though the liquid can be produced in labs, there are bear farms in China, Vietnam and Korea, where bears are kept and their gall is tapped with a catheter. As the bears are kept in cages, in many cases they lack extremities, are subject to brain damage and die of liver cancer sooner or later due to the gall liquid being constantly drained from their bodies.
