Daone - Nudole

Trentino, IT

The little village of Pracul in Val Daone is a quiet place. Only in August, when the summer tourists from the cities of northern Italy go up there, and in winter, when the Ice Climbing World Cup visits the valley, it gets a little busier. At all other times you can enjoy your peace and quiet, good food and brillant bouldering. The area is situated at an altitude of between 800 m and 1550 m, is more than ten kilometres long and has quite a few sectors – almost all of them can easily be reached by car. The granite is perfect and the boulders are too, no matter what the grade. Talking of grades: the grading is sometimes pretty stiff as it often is in Italian boulder areas, although that does not, of course, diminish the beauty of the lines. For a few years now the boulder festival „GraMitico Valdanone“ has taken place, which is supported by the local authorities. An example of this support is in the sector „la Plana“, where most of the blocks were cleaned and the areas under blocks nicely flattened for better landings zones. This guide contains all the worthwhile areas in the valley, but there is potential for a lot more bouldering here. We have also included the boulder-circuits of the „GraMitico Valdanone 2016“ festival.
