Tiger Beach

Red River Delta, VN

Also called Offenheimer’s Creation, this wall lies on the right side of what may be Lan Ha Bay‘s best sand beach. A long stretch of white sand connects this crag with the Slo Pony Wall on the beach‘s opposite end. Intermediate and advanced climbers will surely enjoy this crag. The best climbs on this wall are certainly Snake Skin (7b) and 11 Months In The Womb (6b), two aesthetic and varied routes. The right side of Tiger Beach stays shaded all morning and begins receiving sun around noon. The central section of the crag is overhung, making it possible to climb during rain. Little Red Scooter Gang and Spotlight are sometimes used by Cat Ba Climbing for climbing activities, so please check at the office for the current schedule to make sure they will be available during your time at the crag. The crag and beach are owned by Vietnam Backpackers, who run a resort on the island. Check with Cat Ba Climbing with up to date information regarding access arrangements! Tiger Beach Left, or Slo Pony Wall, is one of the highest walls in Lan Ha Bay. One of only two sport multi-pitches in the bay ascends this beautiful face and rewards climbers with a unique view of the surrounding islands. The multi-pitch is the most climbed route on this crag. Due to difficult access, other climbs are not often repeated and can therefore be dirty. The left side of Tiger Beach is oriented towards the east and exposed to the sun until midday, then shaded in the afternoon. Climbs 1 and 2 must be accessed by basket boat or kayak. You can walk to climbs 3 and 4 from Tiger Beach at tides below 1.3 meters or access them by basket boat, if the sea is calm.
