Lumineuse

Provence, FR

Because it is not very steep, the left side of the cliff has been exploited quite early in the 80’s. Each fissure and each clod are seen as a good place to put some protections. The Gap’s « Omnisports » club is then the local mountain club with Daniel Badaroux at the head of a bunch of happy people. We are in the early 80’s, we wear integral harness, Galibier helmet askew. Pitons, wooden wages and eccentrics are enough to make happy the young people of the club Omnisport such as Jérôme Raccurt, JC Lafaille, Bruno Drouillard, Yves Armand, Raph Perdigon who are learning here before going to the mountains. Rolland once told me: « we were avoiding slabs we couldn’t protect, to jump from clod to clod... » With the arrival of the drill, a famous « couple » Pierrot Borel and Robert Poudou cleans out the sector leaving us some subtleties in multi pitches routes in slabs. The willingness for opening will lead the group on the right side of the cliff. As their level rise with age and experience, the new routes level also increases. They forget the clods to find water drops in the CAPEPS sector. Free climbing appears lead by Philippe Macle and JeanChri Lafaille who are always progressing. With the exploration of new sectors on the far right side, the sector will be progressively abandoned but a first re-equipment financed by the Gap’s Club Alpin and the human in- vestment of Rolland Marie will give it a second life in the 90’s. Recently, thanks to Joel Brochier new one pitch routes appeared around « golot ». With Ludovic Giambiasi we take up the torch setting up 2 new routes at the bottom. Instead of following clods we follow water drops, drill hanging on the harness ... In 2018 Victor Thomas creates a real initiation sector around the Lumineuse.
