Saalachtal - St. Martin bei Lofer

Salzburg, AT

There is no other region in the Eastern Alps that has as many boulders in the higher difficulty levels as this one. It is also noteworthy that the area has solely been developed by the Bernhard and Hermann Schwaiger brothers. It’s also due to Berni that in this guide the secret was disclosed and all sectors of the valley are introduced on the following pages (apart from the ones where a publication would lead to inevitable problems, such as closing the area for climbers, etc.). The bouldering region Saalachtal consists of several small to mediumsized areas. Central starting point is the village Lofer. Due to the short distances between the sectors and the short approach times two sectors can easily be done in a day. From shadowy blocks with difficult problems in the forest and boulders with big jugs in the sun to bouldering in and along the stream: there’s everything a climber’s heart could desire.
