Hoyamoros

The Candelario Mountains and Hoyamoros belong to the west massif of Gredos Mountains, originated in the hernicica and alps orogeny, and Hoyamoros is the cirque which shows the most glaciers evidences. This place has been declared Biosphere by UNESCO in 2006, its vegetation has a high adaptation to the alps, conditions of this mountains. It is possible to find “Pastizales of Cervuno (Nardus stricta)”, trampales and piornales o brezales. With more than 2000 of animal species, 5000 invertebrates, and 309 of endemic vertebrates, the natural interest os Hoyamoros is its best value!. Blocks: Excellent blocks for all levels. Actually, there are approximately 1000 open blocks, with an average around four and six meters and generally cleaned. The vast majority normally have a good depth (or height), but in some cases we have a difficult access and so far away, and it´s too important to pay attention and be carefull. On the other hand, the granite it´s high-quality. It´s a compact granite, neither fine grain nor grain drill, with many crimps, slabs, and big holds, above all, good slabs and...Dominate dynamic and athletic movements, although there are many problems about static movements as well. Sleep: Depending on the time we will going to spend in Hoyamoros, we have two possibilities: If you want spend your journey, we recommend that sleep over (or a good place to sleep is) Candelario or Béjar. In Candelario there is a lodging, camping and all kinds of places to stay, like hotels and cotagges. If you prefer high up, there are two key places. The first one is sleep on the meadow close to bivouac path. The two main attraction places are the grass and The man´s body river. If it rains, just in front of the meadow, go through a metal walkway, investigating a little bit, you can found a bivouac created as of a stone. Water: Man´s body river rises in Hoyamoros, and altought is very clean, is not potable, but you can drink without problems because it doesn´t make you feel sick. In summer, is advisable drink it close to the source, nearest the right side of Cimata´s sector. The other option is have on you (or have with you) from Candelario. Eat/Food: Candelario has some shops and a little supermarket. The regional cuisine is excellent and there are a lot of restaurants where can enjoy with traditional recipes like Calderillo, shake potatoes, mushroom moss, boletus.
