Imyane

Agadir, MA

Imyane Tor is situated on the left-hand (east) side of the R107 between Tafraout and Aguerd Oudad. On the summit of the tor is the ancient agadir of Imyane, where the Berbers once stored the village valuables, safe from marauding tribes. The crumbling remains are a fascinating insight into past times, although accessing the main keep is a challenge not for the faint-hearted, involving some very exposed scrambling. The western slopes of the tor, overlooking the R107 are home to three isolated crags, all of which hold some very good single-pitch climbs and offer some of the closest crack-climbing to the centre of Tafraout. The routes all face west and stay in the shade throughout the morning, making them a good choice during warmer weather. Likewise, they provide some welcome afternoon warmth during colder periods.
