Cascade

Provence, FR

__Eric Fossard about the discovery of Cascade in the 1980es:__ In 1985, the Cliff was deserted since the forest track has been closed. But when Rolland Marie bought the first hammer drill it gave us again the will of setting up new routes, this desire of new openings have been until now too complicated with the traditional hand drill. With Pierrot Isoard we then decided to set up again the routes in the Capeps slabs in order to revive the sector. From this place there is an amazing view on a stunning wall, on the right of the waterfall. Even If at first we thought this idea was a bit crazy, we then started to think that maybe... It must be said that at that time our predilection field was the slab... So we started on a crossing route above overhangs in order to set up a rope on an affordable line. Surprised by the overhang size we set the first two lines 'Super Mickey (7b)' and 'Kekets blues (7b)' that will launch the Ceüse dynamic. At that time we lived extraordinary moments of openings, friendship, conviviality, climbing and laugh at the bottom of this wall with Pierrot, Jean-Christophe, Daniel, Rolland and Michèle, Gilles, Fabrice, Patrice... and all those who took part in this great adventure. Aware that we were discovering an amazing cliff, we did everything we could to preserve its spirit and to avoid the excess made in the past. by Eric Fossard
