Berlin Wall

Peloponnese, GR

__Berlin Wall__ is located in a large widening in the valley, to the right (north) above the road. (You might also come across the German name for it, Berliner Mauer.) It has the potential to be a very good and popular mid-grade sector; however, the routes are poorly bolted for the grades (i.e. the bolting can be dangerous if climbing at your limit) and the rock has not been well-cleaned. Traffic and time will improve the quality of the climbing here, so it may offer some pleasant moments in the future. __Climbing__ At the main sector, the left side features short, steep, bouldery routes. The right side features longer, vertical routes from 6a–6b. Of the total 23 routes from 6a–7b, most are in the 6b–6c range. Rock quality isn’t great (chossy, loose rock) and neither is the bolting (easier parts are runout). Helmets are strongly urged at all times. __Gear__ Berlin Wall and X-mas: a single 60m rope + 16 QDs. __Conditions__ The main sector is good for climbing on cloudy days in spring and autumn, and on sunny days in winter. Some of the sub-sectors have long hours of shade; please see individual descriptions for details. __Shade (Exposure: SE__) At the main sector, after 16:00. At each of the __Kids__ Only at the main sector (so-so). Take the usual precautions: Never leave kids under any climbers, and have them wear helmets at all times.
