Wolfcrag
Scotland, GB
This fine-grained greenstone quarry in the leafy Stirling suburb of Bridge of Allan provides the best bouldering in the area. It is fingery and technical, with many manufactured holds – that said, don’t add any more, as there are enough to get you up without resorting to frustration. Described are the classic lines, most of which can be jumped off at the first break or jugs – heading higher leads into solo territory, but always at about the same grade, so it’s up to you how high you want to go. Most problems can be escaped by heading left or right along the breaks to ledges, or down-climbed. Sit starts make the problems harder, but are often awkward and dissatisfying.
