Tränketal

Harz, DE

One of the large sectors in the valley, that constitute in union with the Studentenklippen and the Treppenstein the largest collection of blocks. Some classics in the 6c-7a range from the initial bouldering wave can be found here. The climbing is dominated by crimps and crystals, with an occasional crack. Most of the blocks are still in the forest, although a few along the Tränke brook have seen the light shortly - and then disappeaed in the bushes. The area south of the Tränke in the shadows of the Treppenstein ridge is pretty wild, so be prepared for a bit more than usual brushing and cleaning. But some of the problems are certainly worth the effort. In general the Tränketal is a rather shady sector, recommending itself particularly for the warmer days.
