The most famous climbing venue in England consists of nearly 4 miles of gritstone blocks, neatly arranged into a handy line. The Plantation offers arguably one of the finest circuits on gritstone; you won’t be queuing for problems at Stanage Middle or Stanage Far Left; and Stanage Far Right is the place to go for a top quality, lower-grade circuit. From Hathersage, take a left just outside the village centre, uphill past The Scotsman’s Pack. You’ll reach the large Popular End car park at Hook’s Car after about a mile.
