Roy - Upper Mesteño

New Mexico, US

A little more adventurous than Middle Mesteño, this area requires more hiking and some attention navigating. Most of the climbing is on cliffbands, and so is less obvious and more dispersed than the blocks in Middle. The iconic World Wide Wall is found here, a slightly overhanging 25 ft highball band of exceptional quality stone, discretely featured with sloped dishes and edges at just the right intervals for moderate to hard bouldering. Bring lots of pads for this! Broadly speaking, three styles of climbing here really stand out: highballing V4-10, long roof climbing V2-10 and vertical face climbing V0-3. The four star problems here (Moss Neisley V5, Ergonomicon V7 and Carpet Bombers V10) are incredible.
