Paretone

Liguria, IT

Two rock faces that are visible from the car park at the cave attract the main attention. These are the crags Rocca dell’Ulivo and the Paretone whose height is enlarged by the perspective. They appear to be higher than the entire cliff. The Paretone is a big wall of about 60 mainly vertical metres with textured walls with tufas and crimps. Nothing special one might say, but the Paretone is really special, definitely deserves hitting the headlines and is among the new nicest crags in Liguria. Positioned along the path Terre Alte it offers a fantastic panorama and a wild ambience, which has something incredible considering that it lies only a couple of minutes away from the car park. One wouldn’t think to be just a few kilometres away from the sea. The difficulty of the routes is not extreme and allows many to visit the Paretone. The nicer routes of the crag, however are found in the higher grades. Routes like Respira or Ombre Rosse are really unique, require technical fingery climbing rarely found these days and they are of up to 40 metres of length.
