Ivory Tower

Ivory Tower is a distinctive section of the rocky escarpment crowning the villages Masouri and Armeos. The main sector looks like a big stone pillar with a characteristic geometric roof on the left. Stankill, a sub-sector of Ivory Tower between the main cliff and sector Panorama, is a narrow cleft in the rock with nearly two dozen routes of varying styles. Most recently, a mini sub-sector was developed to the right of the main sector with just seven slabby route and appropriately named Seven Dwarfs. A narrow cleft in the rock, a good slab and wall, and a pretty rock tower featuring technical wall climbs. __Busy__ 1/3 __Climbing__ On sharp grey rock, better quality steep red walls, and vertical or slightly overhanging walls. __Conditions__ Good for climbing on summer mornings or later in the day in spring, autumn, or winter. __Shade (Exposure: W)__ _Stankill_ Until 13:00 _Ivory Tower Main_ Until 15:30 _Seven Dwarfs_ Until 14:00 __Kids__ The path is long, but once there you can find some suitable areas for kids. __Stankill__ is a west-facing narrow cleft in the rock between sectors Panorama and Ivory Tower. The walls inside the cleft are sharp, but the red wall further in and the outer slab/wall on the right are much better. Stankill has decent hours of morning shade, but it is exposed to the rain. All routes are by Boris Girardin and Claude + Yves Remy (2005–2008), unless otherwise noted. __Ivory Tower Main__ is a large limestone pillar with a distinctive geometric roof on its left. There are several worthwhile routes here on vertical to slightly overhanging walls, with a good variety of grades. More recently (2018), Luca Salsotto added seven shorter easy routes with friendly bolting on the slabby spur between Ivory Tower and Kalydna. This cliff is shadier compared to most others on this stretch of rock, and the overhanging section offers some protection from light rainfall, but routes on white rock are not good for hot or humid days.
