Three Caves

Kalymnos, GR

You can’t miss Three Caves. They climb up Telendos on the diagonal, high above the village and below a distinctive ridge. Routes were first bolted here in 2007. Superb routes on holes and small tufas in the caves overlooking Telendos village. Very sharp routes on the grey outer walls. __Busy__ 1/3 __Climbing__ By local standards the rock is subpar, but some steep routes in the caves on holes and small tufas, and a few vertical routes on the outer walls, are outstanding. __Conditions__ Good for summer afternoons, even though the long walk-in is in the sun. Many routes are sheltered from the rain. __Shade (Exposure: E)__ After 13:00 (at sub-sector For Telendian, after 14:00) __Kids__ Not bad, but the path is long, steep, and sunny. __Gymnasium__ is the uppermost cave with a huge roof, though most routes are on the vertical, sharp, steep outer walls. Shade starts at 13:00. Unless otherwise noted, routes were equipped by Gaetan Raymond all the way back in 2007. __Barbarossa__ is significantly more interesting than it looks. Some of its routes are hidden gems. __Totem Pole__ is the cave with the obvious steep column. For __Telendian__ mostly wall climbs with good, sharp pockets. Uncredited routes were bolted by Gaetan Raymond in 2007; all other routes as noted.
