Studentenklippen

The Studentenklippen ("student cliffs")were one of the germination cells of the Okertal bouldering, and that for a good reason: due to the forest clearance some years ago the Studentenklippen became one of the sunniest in the Oker valley, allowing bouldering even in winter, if there is not too much snow. The Sonneneck ("sunny corner") and the Sonnenplatten ("sunny slabs") indicate their exposition. The boulder problems vary pretty much in their style and character, providing a good selection for everyone's taste. Slabs and roofs can be found, in between the gros of the vertical problems. The climbing styles cover crimps, crystal pinches, jugs as well as slopers. The difficulties range from easy to 7b, with a focus on the moderate range. All in all this justifies the popularity of the Studentenklippen, which are visited regularly by a comparatively large number of climbing folk. This has the positive effect that the blocks and paths are free of vegetation and well accessible. However, in the areas in between the birches grow taller and taller, so please keep an open eye and have the rose clippers handy.
