Figares

Asturias, ES

In the 1980s, sports climbing began to take place in (newly bolted) areas such as Peña Miel y Baiña thanks to Jose Manuel ”Pingüi” Suárez. Due to nearby mining activities, the spot was practically forgotten until more recent years. Nowadays this is a popular crag because of its proximity to Oviedo, with good bolting and new routes. Best season: You can climb all year round and, although the routes are not wet, it is advisable to climb in spring and autumn. During the summer the wall is shaded and on windy days you could find good conditions to climb.
